The old version of the app is available from the Apple App store here.

In the past month, we have been listening to your feedback and working hard to bring you these highly requested new features!

TouchID Integration

No longer do you have to remember your login and mailbox password to securely access your encrypted email, now you can unlock your messages with a touch of a finger. Your fingerprint is one of the best passcodes in the world. It’s always with you, and no two are exactly alike. To learn more about how to turn on TouchID, please visit this tutorial.

PIN Code Protection

For added security, you can require a PIN code to access your inbox through the application. This four digit code can be added on it’s own or in addition to TouchID. TouchID will be the default protection, but can be cancelled to allow access through the PIN code.

  • Roughly when might this new version be in the App Store? I’d like to know so I can decide if I should buy access to the beta or not.

  • Hi there! Awesome app, thanks for spreading privacy worldwide.

Speaking about ipad app. Left menu (when it’s picked) looks really weird taking 90% place of display. Obviously ipad UI is just a resized version of iphone UI. Do you have any plans to fix this?

Another trouble with ipad version is tiny text in big letters. It’s a real problem to read them on non-retina displays.

  • Being able to have several accounts if one important feature to me. Any idea if/when that could be made available in the app?

    • Not sure yet, but this might be possible if you also sign up for the beta, because it is possible to have both the beta and app store versions simultaneously.

  • I would like to be able to check two or more proton email accounts from the same phone. I have my upgraded my personal account and wish to add a custom business account. But how will I be able to have both accounts on the same iPhone?

    • If they are two separate accounts with separate logins, it’s not yet possible to check them both simultaneously within the app, but we are working on supporting this. If you add the personal email under your business account as an address however (or vice versa), you can get messages for both delivered to the same inbox.

  • I hate doing email on my iPhone 7 Plus but when I have to, the Proton Mail iOS app is terrific. I particularly like the integration with 1Password. Well done.

  • dear sirs

are attachements encrypted ( example a PDF stored on portable) what about pdf stored in outside server ?

basically : Protonmail OK for transfer of confidential documents ?..

    thank you

  • I’m hoping the new app and or future release will add the feature to have multiple email accounts without needing to logging in and out of each account. Thanks. This is helpful for those that have private domains and help pay for the service.

  • Dear google activists,

Do you want quality, the best privacy and good encryption of your mail? Then switch to ProtonMail now. Your mail will not be sold to large companies there.

I have been super satisfied with protonmail for a year now, never ever ever switch to Gmail, hotmail or Yahoo mail!!!

    Kind regards,
