In ProtonMail, you can change your theme from the default style (called Proton) to multiple other color schemes to suit your preferences. The Theme feature is available to all ProtonMail users, including those with a free account.

The latest update to ProtonMail also included an updated color scheme and style. To restore the previous style to your inbox, select the Legacy theme.
How to enable dark mode in ProtonMail
ProtonMail’s “dark mode” option is called Carbon. We also have a higher-contrast dark mode called Monokai so you can choose the theme that suits your needs.
To enable dark mode:
1. Log in to your Proton account at protonmail.com and go to Settings > Appearance.
2. Scroll down to Themes and select Carbon or Monokai. Your theme will update automatically.
In the past, ProtonMail has supported the creation of custom themes using your own CSS theme templates. The current version of ProtonMail does not support this feature, although we plan to reinstate it in the future.
