Custom Domains is a premium offering that allows you to host email for domains you own through ProtonMail’s platform. This provides you with the security, privacy, and ease of use ProtonMail is known for with the customization of a unique domain. For example, if you have the domain homes.io, then you can set your ProtonMail account to send and receive email with addresses such as email@example.com.
There are a few steps you will need to take to use your custom domain with ProtonMail.
- Upgrade your existing ProtonMail account.
- You must have access to the domain’s DNS records so that you can change them to point to ProtonMail. Unfortunately, this means you will not be able to add addresses from domains you do not own or control, such as .edu or .gov domains.
If you don’t have your own domain yet, you can buy one through domain registrars like namecheap.com. Domains that are not taken yet can be quickly acquired and typically cost around $10 per year.

Please note, at this time, official Business accounts are not part of ProtonMail’s offering. It is our top priority and is expected to be released in early 2017. Business accounts will allow multiple users to use the same domain for their email address. Currently, if you add multiple addresses from a custom domain, all the mail will be delivered to your one upgraded inbox.
