ProtonMail provides additional account security by giving you the option to set a PIN to access the Android app. For extra convenience, you can then activate fingerprint unlock. You will still be required to choose a PIN as a backup. This article describes the steps to set up fingerprint unlock in the ProtonMail Android app.
1. Tap the hamburger menu in the top left of the Android app and go to your Settings.
2. Tap on PIN under the “Privacy Settings” section and enable PIN.
3. Choose a PIN. (You will need to remember this as a backup in case your fingerprint is not readable.)
4. Tap the slider next to “Use Fingerprint” to enable the feature.
The next time you open the ProtonMail app you will be asked to enter your fingerprint to gain access. You will also have the option to enter your PIN.
