How to check email headers

Email headers are information about a particular email, including the sender, recipient(s), timestamps, subject, and routing information. You can access email headers in ProtonMail through the webapp or Android app. This article explains how.

View headers in the web app

1. Log in to your account at mail.protonmail.com and open a message to read it.

2. Once the message is opened, click on the More arrow on the right side of the message next to the Forward button.

3. Select View headers from the dropdown menu.

The message headers will be displayed in a new tab.

View headers in Android

1. In the ProtonMail Android app, open an email to read it.

2. Then tap the Menu button at the top right of the app.

3. Select View Headers from the list.

The message headers will appear. You can tap the Share button at the top right to send a copy, or return to the email by tapping the back button at the top left.

View headers in iOS

1. In the ProtonMail iOS app, open an email to read it.

2. Then tap the Menu arrow at the top right of the app.

3. Select View Headers from the list.

The email headers will appear on a new screen.
